This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created role within a recently formed OD team, as the Group HR Director embeds a People team that can deliver the strategic aims of the function, partnering the business through organisational transformation to achieve their commercial ambitions - UK and Internationally.
Leading a team of 5, you will be accountable for the design and implementation of their first Talent development strategy incorporating how to identify, assess, mobilise and develop key talent. Initially you will prioritise the Executive Management cohort and their direct team – with a view to cascading a broader Talent programme across their organisation (c.4000 FTE), working with their Emerging Talent Programme Manager and Learning & OD peers.
Leadership Development has been adhoc, offering a real opportunity for you to now build a leadership and management curricula that will develop the capability and effectiveness of their senior leadership team, and management cohort. This will combine a mix of individual, tailored, and group-wide development activities and programmes, utilising a variety of tools – working with carefully selected external partners to define and co-create solutions aligned to the strategic goals of the business.
Supporting the Head of L&OD, you will help to develop key succession potential, and in collaboration with Talent and Professional development peers - ensure an emerging talent pipeline is continually supported and developed.
The successful candidate will demonstrate significant experience of designing and managing leadership and talent programmes, and delivering an effective emerging talent strategy. Proficiency in using emotional intelligence systems and tools is critical, as is a natural and impactful presentation style. Familiarity of working within a matrix structure would be advantageous, influencing and building successful relationships with Group Exec, Board, and senior stakeholders to achieve desired sponsorship. Experience of working within engineering/construction or similar would be useful – certainly the collaboration of partnering with external assessment, governance and influential bodies. Professional/accredited qualifications in leadership development/talent/coaching/mentoring desirable.
Whilst our clients HQ is based in North London, their business operations span across the UK, Ireland and North America – therefore UK travel will be required.
This is an L&OD team in its infancy, a peer group being formed to complement each other and a new leader. Their Group HRD is renowned for a deep understanding of the commercial agenda and acute business insight, fuelling his ability to engage his People team – individually and collectively – to drive one agenda on one journey.
